underscores has shared her fourth single, an upbeat, spiky pop anthem titled ‘Old money bitch’. While the track is uplifting and fun in presentation, its a cleverly written track with lyrics that require more thought on a second listen. At the heart of the track is the grating energy of overdriven synths, underpinned by a wall of thick bass and, weirdly, a banjo. This was “the first song I wrote for the album. I think I started it in January 2022. I had just bought a banjo off of Craigslist and was set on making a pop banger with it.” Underscores’ forthcoming album, Wallsocket, is out on September 22nd, 2023, via Mom+Pop. -Dan Peeke
